Some background:
From as far back into my young adult life as I can remember, I have suffered with anxiety and PTSD. I was prescribed medication after medication to mask the symptoms. I say mask because not one of those meds ever actually did enough to help me for more than a short while. Forget about getting rid of it completely. {This is my opinion only based on MY experiences. I am NOT a medical professional.}
When I was going through a difficult and downright nasty divorce, my anxiety hit an all-time high- like WAYYY off the charts high! I was also experiencing severe PTSD at this time, and nothing helped that either. A kind person {who shall remain nameless} suggested I try marijuana for the anxiety. Desperate for any relief, I gave it a go. I do need to admit here that this was quite the experience for me {No, I am NOT giving details!}, but the bottom line was that IT WORKED!! I talked to my psychiatrist about it, and before long, I had my medical marijuana card.
I am by no means at all a cannabis expert, but I know what works for my needs.
Weed Smoker's Blues:
Fast forward to my dilemma. I purchased the Lookah Seahorse Pro Plus from a local dispensary the other day. I'm relatively new to dabs, so the budtender recommended this for its ease of use and compact size. She took it apart in front of me to illustrate how simple it was to clean. She also recommended watching YouTube videos on how to use it if I got confused. Even so, she assured me that was most likely not going to be necessary because it is such a SIMPLE device to use.
I got home and was excited to try out this new device. I called another smoker and asked for tips on using the device. He said, "Nope. It's pretty straight-forward." Satisfied, I opened the box and unpacked all the extras. First, there was a silicon neon green tube that I had NO idea what purpose it could possibly serve {I found out later it's to connect the device to a bong. Interesting. Even so, I still haven't figured out why I would ever want to do that.} There was also a cleaning brush and some other little things. I charged the device for a bit and set up for my fist hit.
I pressed the button five times quickly to turn the device on. Then, I tried cycling through the different temperature levels. This is where my frustration started. How the hell was I supposed to know which temperature works best for each of the many different types of concentrates? So, I YouTubed, Googled, and had to reach out to my smoker friend as well for help- this was truly almost one of those throw-my-damn-phone moments! How in the name of Santa is one supposed to just KNOW this kind of shit? Anyhow, I figured out that the best temperature for me was purple mode. {Don't ask if that is high, medium or low because I have absolutely NO clue!}
NOW I was finally ready to fire this baby up! I pressed the button and let it heat up a moment, and then I pressed the button again, drew in the hit, and ...NOTHING. Seriously, NOTHING! At this point, my frustration was moving into pissed mode. This was supposed to be EASY to use! HA! Nope. Wrong. Not easy. My smoker friend came over to show me what to do, and the same damn thing happened for him!
Long story short, we realized that the only way to make the Seahorse Pro work was by keeping it in sesh mode. {This, as I understand it, means the device stays on for 30 seconds- giving it enough time to heat up AND use.} This is not ideal, but it works. It draws a decent hit, but it clogs easily. Way too complicated for me!
Bottom Line:
Pros:
- Compact size
- Magnetic cap
- Lightweight
- Reasonably priced
Cons:
Gets dirty quickly
Crappy instruction booklet
Lot of product waste
Only works in sesh mode
Clogs easily
I do NOT recommend the Lookah Seahorse Pro. I will need to keep searching for a better device.
